When it comes to elaborate flooring, parquet reigns supreme. Constructed from small pieces of hardwood fitted together in geometric patterns, parquet flooring adds a dramatic design element to any room – a classic, handcrafted, beautiful and functional piece of art.
From 600-year-old European castles to country manors just outside our capital cities to quality homes built all over Australia, parquet is being rebirthed as the choice of opulence and grandeur. Not as rectangular pieces laid in a herringbone pattern but as a panel made of hand cut pieces in patterns such Basketweave and Marie Antoinette that give a room or an entire house an elevated sensation of ‘walking on art.’
Structurally, parquet in blocks or panels, are the most stable type of wood flooring in the world. Stability reflects the ability of the wood to remain flat despite continuing temperature and humidity changes each day … each month … each season. Both our hand-selected 100% recycled Australian Hardwood flooring and our range sustainably certified solid and engineered European oak pass the rigorous Antique Floors timber selection process. Seeing a geometric pattern on paper or a website is not quite the same experience as seeing it laid in a beautiful room and walking on it.

BLACK RAVEN FLOORBOARDS
Never before has there been 4 styles of the same Oak flooring – we call them ‘Platforms.’ Much like 4 different styles of jeans – each is beautiful with a slightly different cut and shape. From the various textures of Oak plank flooring, you can choose a base board then access 30+ colours with combinations of tinted oils to varying effects that only an artisan can produce.
Choosing a ‘Classic’ plank will give you a smooth, almost perfect, look or perhaps lightly ‘Brushed’ board for a more authentic oak look. ‘Rustic’ boards have soft brushing with a scalloped center piece which may enhance your décor or perhaps the ‘Sawn’ which has the sawmillers marks still on display giving an ever-so-soft texture underfoot.
