Antique Floors was founded by John Fredriksson who comes from a long line of Swedish woodworkers. John brought his craft to Australia in 1986 along with his European design philosophy and craftsmanship.

He founded Antique Floors in 1996, and earnestly began handcrafting high-quality timber flooring and sourcing timber such as sustainable French Oak and reclaimed timber obtained from disused local heritage businesses.

Fredrikksson’s passion for design simplicity and his pursuit of unique timber, culminates in the creation of designer floors offering functional luxury, tailored specifically for your interiors. All floors are coated with natural hard wax finishes suited for both traditional and contemporary interior design.

John offers a bespoke design service which is second to none, producing unique flooring for Australian homes and businesses.

Every piece of recycled timber has character, distinctive markings and a story to tell.

OUR RESPECT FOR NATURE

Antique Floors
Our commitment to sustainability

At Antique Floors, our guiding principle is to source reclaimed Australian hardwood and sought-after sustainable French Oak. Sustainability is at the forefront of all our designs.

We search for the finest timbers acquired from old heritage houses, buildings and structures. These timbers are then cut to size, hand sanded and restored with natural oils to create our classic and contemporary flooring.

John and his team take care of all the details from sourcing through to finishing, using hard wax finishes – an eco-friendly blend of waxes, oils and resins to preserve the essence of natural timber,

Collaboration

Antique Floors works closley with architects, builders, interior designers and industry related businesses. We welcome visits to our showroom at 67 John Street, Leichhardt that showcases our work. PREPARATION & CRAFTSMANSHIP

The hard wax finishes contains a unique natural composition of oils, waxes, and resins. The oil hardens and dries – under the influence of a special LED light – completely within a few seconds.

The instant curing of the oil under the LED light is one of the biggest advantages, as the timber can be used immediately. In addition, tests show that the LED HardWax oil is even more durable than traditional air-dried hard wax oils.
